Absolutely, blkk1. Darlene Love should have been as successful as Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin. She can sing both of them under the table today.

I remember Darlene when she was one of the three girl singers on Hullaballu! She was absolutely amazing then and continues on, not many singers at her age can still belt out the songs. I fell in love with her years ago, would be so happy to attend one of her concerts. AND she’s better than Diana Ross.

I don’t know. From reading the Basie website, its says Darlene is going on first, then intermission, the second half is Ronnie, and for the encore Ronnie & Darlene are singing together. I heard that they never have done that before in concert. I saw Darlene sing with Bruce at MSG last week. She was outragous and the best singer of the whole hall of fame show.

  25. squeet48 / November 23, 2009 2:47 pm

I notice they lower the key every year for her. Those youthful high notes are harder to hit as we get older. Still sounds fantastic.
