Well, I indeed found this video as a response to Electric Feel.
By the way, I’m sorry for my limited biological knowledge, but does an electric eel spend its own energy when it generates electricity? Just something I’m curious about, because it would mean the eel in the video would get quite exhausted.

I keep fish but not electric eels, but they get 8 feet a minimum tank size should be atleast 400 gals this fish has no mental stimulation (gravel, obstacles, hiding places) and probably getting misunderstanding 5 year olds come up and go “OMG” and tap the glass stressing it out. it is also nocturnal (also the reason it needs a hidy hole) this fish will be petrified, and to end the argument, no it is not a useful means of energy, most people cant A. afford the tank required…

…B. they just woudnt give a s*** about how to care for it and yes its not fake and the electricity it produces amplifies when it moves more, only when people take fish seriously will this be a (minor) solution. fish have more personality than the average chav nowadays so do my rats, my ferrets and my dogs are have a purpose in life

For God’s sake, it’s Eel we’re talking about here. You think they’d have better chance of surviving in nature? Being in lab means you’d get to eat and live till you die, rather than being eaten alive in lake.

Ermm… they’re apex night predators there electric field is so powerful that it would see a fish coming from quite a distance and at the same time a red tail catfish coudnt swallow it, the electric eel gets 8 foot, red tail gets five/four foot (and RTC are another nocternal apex pred) it would survive better in the wild whereas the lab may screw up a water change and kill it

P.S. its related to piranha and is not even an eel to begin with!, tube 23k please dont comment on when you dont know anything about these awesome creatures…
NoWay350 / October 22, 2009 10:54 pm
btw.. its an apex predator.. which means it has no predators itself so yeah..

cruel to animals, benificial to man.
The tan k is just to small and 100% no hiding spots
for the eel, this equals to SADFACE.

Not enough to actually power anything useful. Further the ‘electricity’ in our brains is primarily in the form of sodium ions.

It’s only a demo to show what eels can do, they probably swap the eels around every night or so, it’s an aquarium so it’s probably got a million liter tank to go back too, no big deal really, it’s like taking your cat to the vet and sticking it one of those plastic boxes for a few hours.
