The crash that they show at :40 was not made famous for the fact that it was a T-bone. It was famous because that car on the left flipped and rolled over a pedestrian. They clipped the shot to be more narrow.
yeah, the amazing part was that the pedestrian survived without major injuries, so i heard.

Yup he did survive because when the car hit the side of the suv, it made a the side crush in enough so that when it rolled on top of him, it created a little protective shield. Someone was looking out for him that day.
